The Snake

I was simply opening the barn gate for my Great Pyrenees. A little grey tail wiggled at eye level. How cute, I thought: a lizard. And I twisted my face around to look at it. It was instead a snake, about 18 inches long and happily ensconsed on a barn post. Just looking around.

The snake certainly didn't frighten Coco the Pyr. She adopts all kinds of animals, from butterflies to toads to, I suppose, the snake.

I left him (her?) there for another day. Perhaps the snake will eat the mice. Oh, that's right: Coco adopted the mice, too.
